Hospital Bag Essentials
It’s hard to believe we’re in the home stretch for baby now. It feels like time is just flying by. According to several of my baby apps, it’s time to start packing my hospital bag or “go” bag. As I’ve never done this before, I’m leaning on other moms’ experiences (and watching A LOT of TikToks) to get an idea of what I should be packing for the hospital.
So I have a running list and I’m sure I’ll add to it as we get closer, but for now, here’s what I’ve got:
- Nursing friendly pajamas
- Short sleeve button-down set – I got one from Target but this one from Amazon is essentially the same
- Sleeveless tank set from Kindred Bravely
- Robe
- Going home clothes (leggings, sweatshirt, maternity shirt)
- Nursing/pumping bras
- Shower shoes
- Slippers
- Postpartum underwear
- Breast pump/Haakaa
- Long phone charger
- Stroller fan
- Boppy
- Peri bottle
- Toiletries
- Shampoo + Conditioner
- Deodorant
- Hair ties, hairbrush, dry shampoo
- Toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash
- Dermoplast
- Tucks
- Fridamom Diapers and pads
- Chapstick
- Moisturizer, face wash, face + body wipes
- Ice packs
- Portable speaker
- Pillow + blanket
- iPad + charger
- Nintendo Switch
I know some of these things aren’t necessary, but I do feel like they will make me more comfortable while in the hospital. I’ve never stayed in the hospital so I’m not sure what to expect.
I’ve linked a few of these items on Amazon and I plan on getting this large weekender bag to bring with me. I love that it has a compartment for shoes that is separate from the rest of the bag.
Also, I was gifted a lot of postpartum items from a friend who ended up having an emergency C-section, so I already have the dermoplast, peri bottle, and Fridamom pads and diapers. But here’s a pretty nice kit on Amazon that includes a lot of those items.
Lastly, I know that I will have access to a lot in the hospital and I fully plan on taking advantage of all of that. My L&D nurses have already said to take all the items the hospital provides so I may bring an extra bag to stock up with for home.
